What is the Catholic Missal?
The Roman Missal is the liturgical book that contains the ceremonies, prayers and rubrics for the celebration of mass in the Roman rite.
It is called the Roman Missal, because it is the official of the Roman rite. It is the most widely used missal within the Catholic Church. It consists of three parts: the Ordinary of the Mass, with the prayers of each day, the saints and votive Masses, and Masses for the dead. Although written in Latin, the official language of the Church, a version in the vernacular has been approved by all Catholic Bishops' Conferences.
